Solo to the South Pole 2026

Stephanie Ho

Adventurer. Endurance Athlete.

Stephanie Ho is an adventurer and endurance athlete residing in the Gold Coast, Australia.

Her passion for adventure had humble beginnings. She began hiking and camping in her local area at the age of 15, having never done either previously. She quickly became captivated by the simplicity of adventuring and soon branched out to completing multi-day overseas hikes and expeditions.

She is always in search of new adventure projects to push herself mentally and physically beyond what she thought previously possible.

After five years of planning and preparation, in 2026 she will attempt to become the first Australian woman to ski solo from the Antarctic coast to the South pole.

Hailing from an exercise physiology background, she will be partnering with scientists through the expedition to research physiological adaptations in extreme environments.

The Solo South Expedition

60 days. 1200km.

In November 2026, Stephanie will be skiing from the coast of Antarctica to the South Pole. If successful, she will become the first Australian woman to do so and one of only 26 women in the world who have previously done so.

Stephanie will be dragging a 100kg sled in temperatures down to -50°C (including wind chill) up to an altitude of 2,835m, every day for 2 months

The expedition also aims to provide researchers with data on physiological responses in extreme conditions. She will be partnering with researchers around Australia to investigate the short and long-term effects of such a harsh environment on the human body.

Testimonials

"Stephanie is a young and bold polar adventurer. She’s a skilled and experienced woman who has been a perfect team member on our crossing of Greenland (navigating through whiteouts is not a problem for her). She’s a powerful and passionate person with big plans for the future! She can accomplish anything. I have no doubt if she goes solo, she will thrive and succeed."
-Caroline Cote (professional adventurer and previously fastest woman to the South Pole)

"As President of Epping Rotary, I was fortunate enough to be able to invite Stephanie twice to showcase a presentation for our members and friends. Her presentation was outstanding; one of the best we have experienced. However it was her personal qualities that impressed everyone. She is obviously a high achiever who sets and obtains high goals; she is a person of integrity, dedication and warmth."
-Bruce (Epping Rotary)

"Not only is Stephanie a beautiful human being, she is a fearless, determined, muti-talented woman who should be celebrated for her incredible feats she has achieved. Learning about her passion and enthusiasm to make the world a better place is truly profound. The students were engaged and inspired, and we would love to have Stephanie come back and speak to our students again!"
-Melissa (Willoughby Girls' High School)
